How to play Bubble Pop

Bubble Pop is a thirty second reaction test. A shape is called at the top of the screen and you pop only the bubbles matching it. Correct pops build a combo that multiplies your score; wrong pops break the combo and cost points. It is the fastest game on the site and the one where a few seconds of focus makes the biggest difference.

Play Bubble Pop

Step by step

  1. Press Start to begin a thirty second round.
  2. Read the called shape in the banner. It shows both a symbol and its name, such as a triangle.
  3. Tap only the bubbles carrying that shape. Each correct pop adds ten points plus a growing combo bonus.
  4. Avoid the other shapes. A wrong pop resets your combo and subtracts five points.
  5. The called shape changes every few seconds and new bubbles appear, so keep checking the banner.

Tips that actually help

  • Read the banner first, then the board. Players lose most points by continuing to hunt the previous shape after it changed.
  • Protecting a combo is usually worth more than one extra pop. When you are unsure, skip it.
  • Work outward from the centre of the play area. Your eyes cover the middle fastest, and bubbles drift.
  • The shapes are deliberately distinct as well as coloured, so you can rely on the symbol if colours are hard to tell apart.
  • Accuracy beats speed. Ten clean pops score better than fifteen pops with four mistakes.

How scoring works

A correct pop is worth ten points plus two for every step of your current combo, so a long clean run accelerates quickly. A wrong pop resets the combo to zero and takes five points off, meaning a single careless tap can undo several good ones. Your score cannot fall below zero.

Designed to work without colour

Every bubble carries a distinct shape as well as a colour: circle, triangle, square and star. The called shape is announced by name too. That means the game is fully playable if you find colours difficult to distinguish, which a colour-only design would not allow.

Common questions

How long is a round?
Thirty seconds. The remaining time is shown in the banner and in the target row.
What happens if I pop the wrong bubble?
Your combo resets to zero and you lose five points. Your score never goes below zero.
Does the called shape change during a round?
Yes, every few seconds, along with a fresh set of bubbles. Watching for the change is the main skill.
